North Dakota Wheat Quality Protocols

& Grading Workshops

What:

The North Dakota Grain Dealers Association has teamed up with the North Dakota Wheat Commission, US Durum Growers Association and the North Dakota Grain Growers Association to offer two Wheat Quality Protocols and Grading Workshops.

Why:

Testing protocols, standards and grading continue to be a challenge in the wheat industry. Considerable variation in test results can occur based on sampling, grinding and testing protocols. Discrepancies between elevator or mill tests and official lab results create marketing challenges for elevators and producers. This meeting is intended to bring together elevators, testing providers, federal lab representatives, and producers to discuss wheat quality testing and grading standards, and review protocols to ensure more consistent results. All elevator managers and employees with the responsibility of testing and grading and all agribusinesses with a stake in wheat quality testing are encouraged to attend and contribute to the discussion.

Attendees will hear from speakers representing the national wheat and commercial grain industry as well as grading and testing experts from the Federal Grain Inspection Service and the NDSU Wheat Quality Lab. You will also get the opportunity to pick actual wheat and durum samples as well as review official testing procedures for DON and falling numbers.
